2 militants detained in Wardak

MAIDAN SHAHR (PANinfo-icon): A Talibaninfo-icon commander and a militant linked to the Hezb-i-Islamiinfo-icon Afghanistaninfo-icon (HIA) were detained in the central province of Maidan Wardak, an official said on Sunday.

The Taliban local commander was detained by Afghan security personnel on Saturday evening in Tangi area of Syedabad district, the governor's spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A Kalashnikov was recovered from the detainee, he said, accused the rebel leader of attacks on Afghan and foreign troops and planting roadside bombs in the area.

Meanwhile, a join Afghan-international force detained an HIA-linked militant in Khan Jankhel area of Narkh district on Saturday night, Shahid said.

Both the detainees were handed over to the provincial department of National Directorate of Security for investigation, he added.
