District police headquarters opens in Nimroz

ZARANJ (PANinfo-icon): A newly-constructed police headquarters was inaugurated in Khashrod district of southwestern Nimroz province on Sunday, officials said.

The single-storey building, having 16 administrative and living rooms, four observatory towers, was built on one acre of land, the Khashrod district police chief said.

Col. Izatullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News the US-funded project was completed in one year at a cost $2 million (90.36 million afghanis).

Nimroz police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Jabar Purdali, said the previous building constructed in 1997 was small and did not have space for vehicles.

Security officials said the insurgents had attacked the headquarters several times, damaging parts of the building.
