Afghanistan frontline state in war on terror: Iran

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): Iran has said Afghanistaninfo-icon is a frontline state fighting the war against terrorism and Tehran is ready for every kind of cooperation with Kabul in this regard.

This was stated by Iran foreign minister Mohammad Jawad Zarif during a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani on the sidelines of the Heart of Asia Conference – Istanbul Process --- in Amritsar, India.

A statement from the Presidential Palace in Kabul said the two sides discussed bilateral relations and economic cooperation.

President Ghani suggested that a joint delegation should be appointed to discuss implementation of promises made by Afghan and Iranian delegations during visits.

The Iranian foreign minister said he would visit Afghanistan next month at the head of a delegation for talks on implementation of bilateral pledges.

Ghani said cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran was beneficial for the region’s stability and economic development.
