14 dead, 41 wounded in Farah bus, tanker crash

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): At least 14 passengers were killed and another 41 wounded on Sunday when a bus crashed into a fuel tanker in western Farah province, an official said.

Nasir Maheri, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the early morning head-on collision took place in Tot area of Gulistan district.

A speeding 303 model public transport bus en route to Herat City, the capital of western Heart province, from central capital Kabul collided with a fuel tanker-trailer, leaving at least 14 people dead and 41 others wounded.

The injured, including children, were evacuated to hospital, the official said, without providing information about their condition.

Meanwhile, a statement from the Presidential Palace said President Ashraf Ghani had extended his heart-felt sympathy and deep condolences to the families of those killed and prayed for early recovery of those injured.

The president ordered the officials concerned to ensure the injured were provided full attention during their treatment.
