KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Afghanistaninfo-icon Civil Aviation Authority (ACAA) on Sunday cancelled all national and international flights to and from the Kabul airport due to continued snowfall.

Qasim Rahimi, ACAA spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the decision of flights cancellation was made late on Saturday.

Heavy snowing had filled the flying ground and the runway of the Hamid Karzai International Airport and flights would be resumed once the snow was cleared, he said.

Rahimi said the runway would be probably cleared until 4pm today afternoon.

Mohammad Zabih, a passenger, said he was waiting for his flight since 10am and it was now 3pm.

He said ACAA and airline companies should inform people about weather condition and possible flight cancellations so that passengers avoid wasting their time and money.

According to the State Minister for Disasters Management (SMDM), 38 people have died and 16 others injured as result of heavy snowfalls and avalanches in 25 provinces of the country during the last three days.
