Apr 07, 2017 - 15:31

MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Civil societyinfo-icon activists during a debate in the capital of northern Balkh province on Friday called the Durand Lineinfo-icon as ‘Afghanistaninfo-icon political dignity.’

Dozens of people, including culturists, university teachers, poets, writers and civil society activists attended the discussion.

The debate was arranged by the Balkh literary movement. Zabihullah Ihsas, the movement head, presented his annalistic report on the Durand Line, the border between Afghanistan and Pakistaninfo-icon.

Ihsas said the Durand Line had been imposed on Afghanistan’s geography and had affected every Afghan tribe.

He said the creation of Pakistan was an accident in the history and the neighbouring country had always tried to keep under political pressure Afghanistan for its own survival.

A member of the provincial council, Zabihullah Kakar, said the Durand Line was not an issue of a particular Afghan tribe but it was a national issue.

Balkh university teacher Prof. Ghulam Farooq Khpalwak said the Durand Line was a historic tragedy.

He urged the youth deeply study of their history and called the gathering a step forward towards intellectual awakening.
