Wolesi Jirga denounces Pakistan for border violation

KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Wolesi Jirgainfo-icon on Saturday strongly condemned Pakistaninfo-icon border forces’ attack on Afghanistaninfo-icon’s soil and appreciated the retaliation of Afghan forces.

Lower House speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi told today’s general session that the Afghan forces, especially Kandahar police chief Gen. Abdul Raziq had effectively responded to the Pakistani aggression.

He called Gen. Raziq as a brave police officer said Raziq had always defended the country’s borders with bravery.

Lawmaker Obaidullah Barakzai, while voicing support for the Afghan security forces, said the Wolesi Jirga should appreciate Gen. Raziq for his courage.

Local officials said yesterday’s clash in Spin Boldak border town of Kandahar province erupted after Afghan forces prevented Pakistani military men from entering Afghanistan’s soil.

Samim Khpalwak, the Kandahar’s governor spokesman, said Pakistani military personnel on the pretext of conducing census in Nazar and Luqman villages of Spin Boldak had entered the Afghan soil.

He said the clash erupted after the Afghan forces prevented the Pakistanis from entering Afghanistan.

The Pakistan army has said one civilian was killed and 18 security men injured in firing by Afghan border forces. The injured included four Pakistani border guards.

Brig Raziq had also confirmed the killing of one Afghan civilian and injuries to another 14, including three Afghan soldiers.
