KABULinfo-icon (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Tuesday said police officers working in stable areas would replace those in restive parts of the country to improve the security situation.

Addressing a press conference in Kabul, MoI spokesman Najib Danish said implementation of the programme had been underway for the past one week.

He added the changes applied to different levels of the force, including policemen, chiefs, crime branch heads, detectives and commanders.

Danish did not provide details about the number of police personnel whose duty locations would be changed, but said most of Kabul-based officials would be deployed to unstable provinces.

About punishments and rewards, he said the police officers showing good performance would be appreciated and those involved in corruption brought to justice.
