Samangan man axes mother-in-law to death

AIBAK (Pajhwok): Police on Friday said they were searching for a man who alleged killed his mother’s law and wounded his father in  law and a sister in law in the capital of northern Samangan province.

The incident took place last night in Gul Qashlaq village of Aibak city, said Col. Abdul Halim Baig, the city’s second police district chief.

He said the incident resulted from domestic violence and the alleged killer had escaped and police had launched a manhunt for him.

A surgeon on duty at the civil hospital in Aibak, Dr. Esa Raufi, said they were delivered the dead body of a woman and two injured persons, including a woman, at about 12am last night.

He said the victims had been hit with an axe and a pickaxe.

The accused ‘s father in law, Mohammad Akbar, 70, who sustained wounds on his ears and hands, said: “My son in law, Mohammad came straight from Kabulinfo-icon and entered our home and attacked his mother in law with an axe and killed her. He then attacked me and my daughter, we both were injured.”

He urged the government to arrest the accused and award him an exemplary punishment.
