Eid-ul-Adha prayer offered nation-wide peacefully

KABUL (Pajhwok): The first day of annual religious festival Eidul Adha was celebrated across Afghanistan on Friday by offering Eid prayers in all provinces, including Kabulinfo-icon, without any untoward incident taking place.

Kabul residents offered Eid prayers at Eid Gah mosque, Pul-i-Kheshti, Abdul Rahman, Wazir Akabar Khan and other mosques.

President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai offered the prayers in the mosqueinfo-icon at the Presidential Palace, where former president Hamid Karzai, deputy chief executive officers, cabinet members and government officials were present.

Addressing reporters after the Eid-ul-Adha prayer at the mosque of Presidential Palace the president said he was proud of Afghanistaninfo-icon for having national unity and religious harmony.

The president congratulated Eid-ul-Adha to the entire nation special to security forces of the country.

“I feel proud that our security forces have been busy in maintaining security in cities, villages and remote areas of the motherland so that our citizen can celebrate Eid peacefully,” said the president.

He thanked the masses for their support to security forces and added injured and family members of victims had been inquired after and the Afghan pilgrims were safe and busy in offer Hajjinfo-icon rituals.

Imams and religious leaders in their prayers called for peace and stability in the country. Most Afghans started sacrificing animals after offering Eid prayers and greeting their relatives and friends.

The first day of Eidul Adha was celebrated besides Afghanistan in Arab countries, Europe and the United States. Afghan refugees living in Pakistan’s tribal areas also celebrated the festival on Saturday.
