Sep 03, 2017 - 13:42

ZARANJ (Pajhwok): A businessman has been killed after being abducted by unknown gunmen in the capital of southwestern Nimroz province, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place last night in Zaranj, the provincial capital, said provincial crime branch police chief Col. Mohammad Sadiq Hashmi.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News that unknown gunmen had kidnapped trader Haji Mohammad Ows and killed him later.

Hashmi said the motive behind the murder was not clear as yet, but the accused killers had been indentified and a manhunt for them was underway.

A security official, who refused to be named, said the trader was kidnapped from his workplace in Sistan township and was killed later.

A relative of the deceased person urged the government to arrest the killers and punish them.
